Ever wonder what the downside was to inhaling too much glitter?
Ask
Ke$ha, who seriously just gave the lamest excuse in life to a somewhat
serious issue that was tied to the heartbreaking Sandy Hook Elementary
school shooting earlier this week that claimed the lives of young
children and teachers.
Because of the very sensitive nature of
the tragedy, there have been certain things media-wise that have been
rearranged (although some will air at later dates).
One of those
things happened to be her single “Die Young”, which was nearly
completely removed from ALL radio station airplay following Friday’s
events.
“Die Young” clocked in at #3 on the radio playlists
on Friday (the day of the shooting) … reaching 167 million listeners
nationwide, this according to Mediabase, a company that tracks radio
airplay.
By Saturday, the day after the shooting … airplay
dropped by 3 million listeners … a sign that stations were slowly
pulling the song off the air.
By Monday … “Die Young” took a
huge hit on the radio … dropping down to 148 million listeners … a 19
million drop from what had been a pretty steady rotation before the
shooting.
More after the jump.
Now obviously, no one wants
to be rightfully connected to what has been such a monumental
occurrence… but rather than express some kind of sympathy, Ke$ha is
downright claiming that it wasn’t her choice to sing the lyrics in the
song.
“”I had my very own issues with “die young” for this
reason”, she expressed via her Twitter. “I did NOT want to sing those
lyrics and I was FORCED TO.”
That’s right — she was outright forced to sing the lyrics to the track.
(The
lyrics in question are found in the chorus, which says, “Let’s make the
most of the night like we’re gonna die young/We’re gonna die young…”)
Would you like to know who wrote “Die Young”? Let’s go to Wikipedia, shall we?
“Die Young” is a song by American recording artist Kesha. It was
released on September 25, 2012 as the lead single from her second studio
album, Warrior. The electropop song was written by Kesha, Dr. Luke,
Benny Blanco, Cirkut, and fun. singer Nate Ruess.
Yep. She was forced to sing the lyrics to a song she, at least, co-wrote.
Well,
since it’s so troublesome for her, I’m going to have to force myself to
stop listening to her tracks. I mean, it’s only fair, right?
Looks like she’s taking the infamous LiLo route: blame the other guy.
