Ke$ha Is Backtracking On A Backtrack

Word of advice to pop superstar Ke$ha: the mouth looks better closed.

Earlier this week, the glitter girl’s newest single “Die Young” was dropped from pop radio after people claimed it was insensitive to the Sandy Hook Elementary shootings in Newport, CT where children and teachers were killed.

In response to the airplay drop, she released a statement and apology on her Twitter claiming she was “forced” to sing the lyrics to the chorus — and then realizing how dumb she sounded bashing a song she co-wrote (as well as the fellow writers and producers) deleted the Tweets.

Well, she’s speaking out again and is going back on the offensive apology she put out in the first place via a post on her Facebook.

After such a tragic event I was feeling a lot of emotion and sadness when I said I was “forced” to sing some of the lyrics to “Die Young”. “Forced” is not the right word. I did have some concerns about the phrase “die young” in the chorus when we were writing the lyrics especially because so many of my fans are young and that’s one reason why I wrote so many versions of this song. But the point of the song is the importance of living every day to the fullest and staying young at heart, and these are things I truly believe.

So in short, the song that was never meant to obviously be literally translated shouldn’t be translated literally.

Thanks for letting us know that, girl.
