Barbara’s “View” Return!

BarbaraWaltersTheView

Welcome back, Ms. Walters!

An exuberant, healthy and funny Barbara Walters made her return to The View this morning after being forced to miss her morning show for six weeks after battling the chickenpox and a concussion she suffered after fainting due to the illness.

After a heavy dose of applause and love from the audience, the 83-year-old ABC mainstay expressed her gratitude and appreciation for all of the well wishes she received during her time off.

“Today after a lot of scratching and rest, I am fine and I am healthy,” Walters said to even more applause.

It turns out the reason she actually stayed away so long was the concussion she suffered after falling onto a marble floor at the home of British Prime Minister, David Cameron.

According to Walters, the chicken pox had passed long ago (she got them from a celebrity she didn’t name who unknowingly was dealing with a bout of shingles — which can give another person the chickenpox if they’ve never had it before), but it was the subsequent head injury that needed time to heal.

“The pox came and went weeks ago. The head injury took longer,” she mentioned.  “People have said I should have my head examined. I did and I’m fine. ”

Today’s show was also filled with celebrities leaving messages of good health for the anchorwoman, including a surprise appearance by close friend and Mayor of New York City, Michael Bloomberg — which left the normally graceful Walters in tears.

Glad to have her back. You can check out the full clip of Babs explaining it herself after the jump.
