Talk about a huge shocker on today of all days.
Celebrated Olympic participant Oscar Pistorius, the sprint runner who inspired the world over by managing to compete at last year’s games in spite of being a double amputee (he has running blades attached to the knee) was arrested and charged with murdering his girlfriend early this morning.
30-year-old aspiring model Reeva Steenkamp was found shot in the head and hand in Pistorius’ South African home with a 9mm gun also found at the scene. Rumors originally stated that she was killed accidentally when 28-year-old Oscar mistook her for a burglar, but it was never verified.
Sources say the relationship seemed peaceful and that there was never any violence. However, police specified that they had been called to his home before on matters of domestic violence that did not involve the deceased.
He’s currently being held in a prison in Pretoria, South Africa.
