Well, this turned into a huge mess over a slight misunderstanding.
At last night’s BRIT Awards (it’s like the UK’s version of the Grammys), a pop legend and a pop phenom bumped heads long enough to bring their drama to Twitter the next day.
Liam Payne of One Direction (who ended up taking home an award for “BRITs Global Success) and Boy George (whose lost quite a bit of weight recently, as he shared recently) had a bit of a row (British term for “argument” — OK, I’ll stop now) over what actually transpired when they met at the awards ceremony.
“Top marks to [One Direction member] Harry Styles for stopping for a picture with my niece”, the Culture Club leader tweeted, “and Bollox’s to Liam and the disrespectful wanker of a minder!”
Liam, who is usually seen as the most mature one of the group, took to Twitlonger; the feature that allows users to rant past 140 characters, to rightfully defend himself.
“@BoyGeorge now now boy lets not tell porkies [slang for "lies"]. Firstly thanks for getting my name wrong three times secondly then asking me where is liam?…awkward. Then when you finally got it right saying you wanted Niall [Horan; fellow 1D member] instead.”
“If you would have asked me for a picture”, he continued, ” i would have stopped bro i just did what you said and pointed niall out for you so u just keep wearing ur strange hats and enjoy yourself my little Georgie pie… It’s still not cool you just look weird.”
Not realizing the power of the boys’ fans, the 51-year-old set himself up for massive and anger-filled Tweets from the Directioners (One Direction’s fan base).
“One direction fans stop bothering me!”, he begged in another message.
Bet he wishes he left Liam alone last night — but karma chameleon always comes back around.
