So you think the entire story behind Manti Te’o's fake “girlfriend” is the most confusing thing you’ve ever bore witness to? Try telling that to Dr. Phil.
As previously mentioned, the Oprah tag-along got first dibs on the interview with the man behind the hoax, Ronaiah Tuiasosopo. But during the sit-down (which is set to air in a few days, the Hawaiian behind “Lennay Kekua” admitted that he fell in love with the ex-Notre Dame player, but wasn’t exactly sure if that made him gay.
Dr. Phil dropped by the Today Show this morning to give some tidbits.
“Here we have a young man that fell deeply, romantically in love,” Phil said of Ronaiah.
“I ask him straight up … was this a romantic relationship with you? And he says, ‘Yes.’”
Phil continued … “I said, are you then, therefore, gay? And he says, ‘Well, when you put it that way, yes.’”
Phil says Ronaiah then “caught himself” and said, “I am confused.”
When the person causing the confusion is confused himself, you know there’s some serious craziness going on there!
Phil did express that Ronaiah came completely clean about the entire thing, but he blamed it all on things from his past that left him “damaged”.
Check out the “damage” after the jump.
