Welcome Back, Robin!

RobinReturnsGMA

Following a five-month break to properly heal from a bone marrow transplant, anchor Robin Roberts finally returned to the desk of Good Morning America this morning.

“Hi, it’s Robin”, the 52-year-old stated at the start of the show. “And I’ve been waiting 172 days to say this: good morning, America!”

It marked the end of a very hard road for the inspirational reporter, who initially took leave of the morning show to deal with MDS (or myelodysplastic syndrome), a side effect that came from the chemotherapy Roberts underwent to heal from breast cancer, back in 2012 and even more sadly, the loss of her mother only days before she began the life saving treatments.

“Faith, family and friends have brought me to this moment,” she explained, “and I am so full of gratitude.”

She was greeted with a warm welcome from her co-anchors, as well as some very big names, such as President and Michelle Obama, Jennifer Hudson and Oprah Winfrey.

The celebration will probably go on for a while, but Robin is already set for a major interview in the next few days with the First Lady.

“Truly is the dawn of a new day”, she shared on her Twitter.

Indeed it is. Welcome back, Robin.

Check out a small clip of her return after the jump!
